Entry Level Electrical Engineer

Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is seeking a Junior Level Electrical Engineer who is hard working, eager to learn and committed to growing with our company. Entry-level engineers will participate in multiple aspects of the electrical hardware development process, design, test, document, and deployment of PCB based electronics. As a key member of a small and versatile team, you will have the challenge to produce world-class and scalable electronics using advanced technologies.

Candidate uses and applies basic electrical engineering technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques to design and layout circuits boards for signal processing, power management, and embedded computing.  Candidate will work under general supervision developing solutions to a variety of challenging technical problems as they relate to electronics hardware development. Candidate will follow established procedures and will contribute to the successful completion of electrical engineering related milestones associated with specific projects including circuit design, component selection, schematic, PCB layout, fabrication, and both laboratory and field testing. Candidate will interact with senior personnel on a situational basis and has knowledge of emerging technologies. Candidate is required to produce documentation related to the design and release of hardware and is expected to give formal and informal presentations to senior personnel.

Required Skills:

  • Electrical Engineering classes related to embedded systems design
  • College course work should include circuit design
  • Some knowledge of embedded processing
  • General knowledge of Networking principles and protocols
  • Ability to work in a team setting and contribute unique ideas to the group
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with PCB schematic and layout software
  • Some experience with analog and digital system design (circuit design, layout and evaluation)
  • Exposure to microcontroller based systems (ARM, Cortex M, etc.)
  • Exposure to I/O communication protocols (SPI, USB, etc.)
  • Experience with soldering
  • Holding a current Secret clearance is a plus
  • Internships or cooperative work assignments in an applicable electrical engineering field or DoD environment is a plus.

Required Education:

Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; or Math or Physics (or other hard science) with a Minor in Computer Science; Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Candidate uses and applies basic software engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques associated with C and C++ software development. Candidate will work under general supervision developing solutions to a variety of challenging technical problems as they relate to software development. Candidate will follow established procedures and will contribute to the successful completion of software related milestones associated with specific projects including C/C++ software development, design, code, unit test and formal testing. Candidate will interact with senior software personnel on a situational basis and has knowledge of emerging software technologies. Candidate is required to produce documentation related to the design and release of software artifacts and is expected to give formal and informal presentations to senior software personnel.

Required Skills:

  • College course work should include C/C++
  • High level of proficiency using software development tools and languages
  • Understanding of object oriented analysis and design concepts
  • General knowledge of Networking principles and protocols
  • Ability to work in a team setting and contribute unique ideas to the group
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with UNIX/Linux environment
  • Experience with Matlab, C#, Qt, C++,
  • Holding a current Secret clearance is a plus
  • Math classes beyond Calculus such as Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Engineering Mathematics
  • Internships or cooperative work assignments in an applicable embedded software development environment or DoD environment is a plus.
  • Electrical Engineering classes related to embedded systems design

Electronics / Electrical Design Engineer

Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is seeking an intermediate level Electronics/Electrical Design Engineer with good work ethic, willingness to contribute as well as learn, and commitment to growing with our company. This engineer will be involved with product design, prototyping, testing and production. Specific areas of interest should be analog and digital electronics design, power supply design and power consumption reduction techniques, sensor integration and exploitation, analog to digital conversion, embedded processing, PCB design and layout, electronics and mechanical integration and packaging, as well as general electronic/electrical engineering tasks.

Candidate uses and applies basic software engineering technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques associated with C and C++ software development. Candidate will work under general supervision developing solutions to a variety of challenging technical problems as they relate to software development. Candidate will follow established procedures and will contribute to the successful completion of software related milestones associated with specific projects including C/C++ software development, design, code, unit test and formal testing. Candidate will interact with senior software personnel on a situational basis and has knowledge of emerging software technologies. Candidate is required to produce documentation related to the design and release of software artifacts and is expected to give formal and informal presentations to senior software personnel.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a relevant environment
  • Expertise in Electronics Design both Analog and Digital
  • Expertise in Printed Circuit Board Design and Fabrication
  • Proficiency with Altium Designer
  • Expertise in Electronics Testing, Trouble Shooting, and Debug
  • Expertise in Data Collection and Analog to Digital Signal Conversion
  • Experience in Integration of Embedded Processors (Microcontrollers, FPGAs, CPUs)
  • Ability to work in a team setting and contribute unique ideas to the group
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Must Interface with Customers at a Technical Level
