GULFPORT, Miss. – Hyperion Technology Group, Inc. is a Tupelo, Mississippi-based technology company specializing in research and development, advanced manufacturing, and engineering innovation across sensing, signal processing, and industrial automation. The company today announced its expansion into the University of Southern Mississippi's Roger F. Wicker Center for Ocean Enterprise in Gulfport, alongside the appointment of Paul Drake as Vice President, Gulf Coast Operations. The move deepens Hyperion's Gulf Coast presence and its ability to serve a growing range of government and industrial partners.

“We are proud to be part of the Roger F. Wicker Center for Ocean Enterprise, and to continue growing our partnership with the University of Southern Mississippi,” said Chad Williams, President and CEO of Hyperion Technology Group. “This facility places us alongside some of the region’s leading innovators in ocean enterprise and defense technology, and it gives us the presence we need to serve the Gulf Coast’s growing defense and maritime communities. Bringing on a leader of Paul Drake’s caliber to guide this expansion makes this an exciting moment for our company. We’re also thankful for the continued support of our Mississippi congressional delegation, whose partnership has been instrumental in our growth.”

Drake, a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel, brings more than three decades of military and community leadership experience to his new role. He most recently served as the founding Executive Director of Mission 3, a public-private nonprofit formed to strengthen South Mississippi's defense installations and unite Gulf Coast communities around shared defense priorities. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Army War College, Drake served in Iraq and was the Mississippi Air National Guard's first Fully Joint Qualified Officer. He also served as chief of staff for the National Guard Association of the United States and currently serves as an assistant professor in the U.S. Army War College's Distance Education Program.

“I’m excited to join Hyperion and help expand its presence on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said Drake. “This region has a strong ecosystem spanning technology, defense, and innovation, and I look forward to drawing on that foundation to help Hyperion pursue new opportunities here as a go-to partner.”

In his new role, Drake will lead Hyperion's Gulf Coast operations, working to build relationships with the region's military installations, industry partners, and academic institutions as Hyperion grows its footprint in South Mississippi.
